Where There’s a Wyndham: Give the Portfolio a Human Route
A portfolio becomes easier to understand when one person needs it across a coherent journey instead of receiving a catalogue of unrelated names.

Read the campaign story
Three family occasions give the journey a reason. Wyndham’s June 2025 Where There’s a Wyndham, There’s a Way platform introduced World’s Greatest Aunt, a film about a woman travelling across states to attend family milestones. Havas New York created the campaign with production by Annex 88. The company positioned its hotel portfolio and rewards programme together, using the character’s trip to connect an umbrella offer with individual reasons to travel.
Editorial interpretation: an umbrella brand often has an explanation problem. Listing everything underneath it can demonstrate scale while leaving the audience unsure why the relationship matters. A connected journey offers another structure. The character has a continuing purpose, and the service appears when that purpose creates a practical need. Different places can therefore belong to one understandable sequence without becoming interchangeable. The story gives the audience a way to organize the portfolio: not every option at once, but the option relevant to the next part of the plan.
The company release documents the story, collaborators and intended role of the programme. Its broad availability language is not adopted as a guarantee that any particular route, date or redemption will work. Historical property and membership counts are also unnecessary to the lesson. A campaign can illustrate how a network might help while actual planning still requires location-specific information. Nor does an emotionally appealing trip establish a commercial result. The useful distinction is between making a relationship understandable and proving that every promised connection is operationally available.
Use one continuing objective to organize the options
For a fictional network of creative workspaces, an illustrator might need a quiet room for preparation, a suitable space for presenting a draft and a different setting for a small discussion. Keep the project continuous across those encounters. The network’s role becomes clearer when each location answers a specific need in the same piece of work. Do not invent a new character and ambition for every room merely to fit more facilities into the advertisement. The audience should be able to explain why the next stop follows.
Show what the common name does and does not unify
In the invented network, a shared enquiry route might connect the locations while their equipment and booking conditions differ. Make that distinction part of the proposed information design. A common identity can simplify recognition without implying identical facilities. Ask which properties belong to the network and which belong only to a particular site. This is especially important when the story moves quickly: continuity of editing can otherwise imply continuity of access that the actual offer does not provide.
Give the practical next step the same structure as the story
If the fictional narrative is organized around a project’s stages, the follow-up page should help someone inspect the requirements at each stage. A generic catalogue may force the reader to rebuild the useful sequence from scratch. Provide a clear path from the relevant task to the applicable location information, while preserving alternatives. The communication succeeds at explanation when the reader knows what to check next. It need not pressure them into treating the illustrated route as the only reasonable plan.
A small test for another brief
Proposed adaptation: make an original paper journey for the workspace network with three stipulated project stages and different site conditions. Compare a catalogue-first explanation with a task-first explanation using exactly the same fictional facilities. Ask consenting adults to map a suitable route, identify unavailable assumptions and explain which conditions differ by site. Do not make bookings, promise access or use a real person’s schedule. Keep the shared identity constant so the exercise isolates how the offer is organized rather than how attractive its name appears.
Record whether participants choose a feasible fictional route and notice the conditions that the story leaves unresolved. Separate understanding of the umbrella relationship from preference for a location. The exercise establishes neither real availability nor a historical conversion effect.
Revise if narrative continuity implies guaranteed access, a location is included only to enlarge the catalogue or the next-step information hides a condition needed to evaluate the route. A coherent journey should reduce confusion without erasing meaningful differences.
- Give every stop a reason in the same task.
- Separate shared services from site-specific conditions.
- Match the follow-up information to the decision sequence.
